High Barnet’s business community urged to rally round with sponsorship deals to help finance this year’s Barnet Christmas Fayre

An urgent appeal is being made for commercial sponsorship towards staging the annual Barnet Christmas Fayre on Sunday 6 December to help pay a £4,700 bill to cover the cost of traffic diversions.

Five sponsorship opportunities are available including prominent branding on the main stage in the High Street and sponsorship of the Christmas Courtyard attractions at the front of Barnet College.

Barnet Council imposed the charge last year but agreed to waive the fee for the 2025 fayre on the understanding that it would take effect in 2026.

Withdrawal of council funding for the cost of operating traffic diversions around the High Street means the organisers must gain minimum funding of £4,700 before covering other costs for holding the fayre.

Local businesses are being encouraged to back the fayre by signing up for sponsorship deals which will help them gain recognition in the town and which will be backed up with further online promotion.

The deadline for applications for sponsorship and advertising in the Christmas Fayre Booklet is Friday 6 November. For more information: marketingbcf@thebulltheatre.com

In addition to the main stage, which will be sited in the High Street around the Moxon Street entrance, the organisers are hoping other attractions for families visiting the fayre will include a climbing wall.

The five exclusive sponsorship deals on offer are:

£3,400 for sponsorship of the main stage for live music and performances with a prominent stage banner, thank you announcements, a social media thank-you posts, online links and other support.

£1,250 for sponsorship of the Christmas Courtyard with prominent staging, social media announcement and thank-you posts and online links.

£550 for sponsorship of Santa’s Grotto at The Bull Theatre with sponsorship branding, social media announcement and thank-you posts and online links

£750 for sponsorship of the Christmas Fayre booklet.

£250 for sponsorship of climbing wall with sponsorship board, social media thank-you posts and online links.

Other promotion opportunities include advertisements in the Christmas Fayre booklet and Fayre map.

Barnet Christmas Fayre organisers seeking sponsorship deals to help pay for road closures to ensure High Street is traffic free on Sunday 6 December

Ros Staines, stalls organiser for the event, appealed to local businesses to help with funding to maintain the High Barnet tradition of a community Christmas fayre.

Because of the loss of council funding, the organisers face the daunting challenge of raising £4,700 to ensure the closure of the High Street and the diversion of traffic via Wood Street, Stapylton Road and St Albans Road.

Cost-saving measures had been necessary this year.

Instead of supplying a covered stalls for charities, community groups and other organisations – a cost of almost £3,000 – stall holders were being asked to bring their own tables, awnings etc.

“We have taken measures to alleviate the road closure charge, and we are hoping the business community will rally round to take advantage of the sponsorship deals and promotional back-up which we will provide for them.”
