Red Lion re-opens
Mitchells and Butlers say they have created ten new jobs following the conversion of the Red Lion public house into a Stonehouse pizza and carvery.
The Mayor of Barnet, Councillor David Longstaff, officially re-opened High Barnet’s landmark public house, at the top of Barnet Hill, after a four-week closure.
Jack Howitt, the general manager, said he wanted the Red Lion to become a real part of the local community.
“We are looking to support local charities, projects and host a variety of events and activities.
It was great to have the Mayor of Barnet officiate, and then try our new restaurant.
The Red Lion was formerly a Toby Carvery and the new restaurant will be ready to serve guests from breakfast to dinner.

Glad the disgusting carvery has gone. Perhaps Barnet is moving up in the world!
I’ve eaten at this new place twice now.
Never again.
Mediocre food, average service, it was fine before!
A stupid shortsighted move. Haven’t we got enough trumped up pizza places round here?
What we’re going to get is another overpriced, and, mark my words, ultimately failed, attempt to ‘gentrify’ the area. Isn’t the money of ordinary people on a lower budget considered good enough?
The Toby served excellent, filling, tasty, and reasonably priced breakfasts, lunches and dinners, and whenever I went there was really full.
If it ain’t broke – don’t fix it.
Another proper public house gone. Another rubbish food chain.
I believe that the outside should be completed by the first week in March
Thought the same!! Shame it still looks dirty and run down from the outside!!!
What’s the point in spending thousands on the inside when the outside looks like crap!!
Shame that they haven’t painted and updated the tired and dirty facade
