After almost a decade being the proprietor of her own beauty salon, Paige Candler is saying farewell to Barnet High Street and has plans to establish an online business.

She opened her natural beauty boutique Odette at the age of 23 and now she is almost 32, with an eighteen-month-old daughter Ava, says she wants a change from running a High Street beauty salon.

“I’m closing the business after what’s become a perfect storm for small businesses on the High Street.

“I’m struggling to find long-term staff; facing higher business rates and the price of beauty products is constantly going up.

“I would have tried to keep going but a break in my lease meant I had to decide. Now that I have a baby daughter, life has changed.”

She opened her first beauty salon under her maiden name of Paige Sinnott in premises next to The Present and she has been in her present salon, nearer Hadley Green, for the last three years offering a range of beauty treatments including waxing, nails, massage, and facials.

“I shall be sad saying farewell to the High Street. I have had incredible support and moving on is nothing to with the lack of business or encouragement, but business wise for me it doesn’t make sense.”

Barnet High Street has always been a popular business location for hairdressing and beauty salons.

One recent survey showed that it had more hairdressers, beauty, and nail parlours than any other comparable High Street in Greater London – no doubt due to its length as a continuous town centre thoroughfare.
