There will be events all afternoon, starting with the opening procession leaving Bruce Road to reach the middle of the High Street at 12 noon, live performances in the High Street and a three-hour celebration peal by the bell ringers at the St John the Baptist Church that continues until the evening service at 6.30 p.m.

Drummers and Star Wars characters will welcome the Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Hugh Rayner, and the Barnet Christmas Fair Festival Queen Sophia Theocharous and the Festival Princesses Monica and Melissa Faldes.

A funfair in the High Street, a Punch and Judy show on the church green and children’s theatre productions will provide plenty of entertainment.

Inside the parish church there will be a piano recital followed by a combined performance from the Susi Earnshaw Theatre School and the New Tottenham Singers and instrumentalists from the boys’ choir of St John the Baptist.

Stalls along the High Street will offer hot food and refreshments and there will be live music between 2 and 4.30 p.m. at the Mitre, the King’s Head, Harris + Hoole, the Misty Moon and the Monk.  

Supporting attractions include Wesley Hall’s traditional Christmas fair and a gifts and crafts market at Church House.

Barnet Museum will be open from 12 noon until 5 p.m. and will have on sale Christmas cards offering eight wintry views of Barnet, and the 2015 Barnet Calendar which contains twelve colour paintings of Barnet past and present.

Barnet traders have again raised sufficient funds for a Christmas tree at the front of the parish church.

The Christmas Fair will be preceded on Saturday 6 December by a visit to Barnet Market by the Jungle Bus, offering games for children, and festive music from the Christ Church Community Choir, which will return to the market the following Saturday, 13 December, to give a performance of carols and other songs from their wide repertoire.
