Just wanted to drop you a line to say we are very pleased to hear that the wooden cladding will be removed from the shop and building front by St John the Baptist Church.
While don't wish the owners or developers any ill in their efforts to revamp the property, this cladding is so out of keeping with the area and conservation area it simply detracts from the historic character of the town. Only the other day we remarked how much it stood out particularly as you walk up the hill from the south, it's in a prominent position and looks like a poor replica of a swiss chalet has tried to "jemmy rench" it's way into what is otherwise a early victorian ( and earlier) traditional high street. It's not contemporary and very glad it is now temporary! So well done to those who have decided; enough, it has to go!

Kind regards
Tanya
