“ A really interesting set of ideas from Barnet Society.Here are a few thoughts:
1.Prioritise pedestrians and cyclists-e.g.20mph speed limit (enforced!)
Bus lane up Barnet Hill
Cycle lanes segregated from traffic
Shut off side streets from through traffic e.g.Union Street at the High Street junction and buses only in Salisbury Road
Longer times and better sequencing at pedestrian crossing lights.
These sort of measures would encourage walking and extra footfall in the town.
2.Public Toilets!
3.An Adventure Playground in the Courthouse Park.
4.Support the Museum e.g. find a permanent home for a Battle of Barnet Exhibition and don’t turn down extension plan (again).
This could make Barnet a tourist destination.
5.Make the Old Bull into an evening destination (again).
