Barnet Christmas Fayre

The Fayre on the first weekend in December was a very good event this year – despite the weather being bitterly cold – with many people getting out and enjoying all that was on offer.

There were many more activities than recent years; in addition to the usual stalls and funfair rides in the (temporarily pedestrianised) High Street, the area at the rear of The Spires was opened up and a ‘Winter Wonderland’ installed with a children's "ice" rink.

Barnet Museum and St John the Baptist Church were open and welcomed many through their doors; Barnet College provided a hog roast; Church House was home to an excellent and extensive Craft Market; and the newly-restored Tudor Hall offered a wonderfully warm respite from the chilly exterior.

This was followed before Christmas by Thursday late night opening for local shops and businesses as a trial for possible future initiatives.
