Progress on the town centre strategy moves slowly forward – during June there were 5 themed sessions held with the Council and representatives of local groups and organisations.
These covered such matters as the appearance of the High Street, possible redevelopment of the Spires, provision of better parking facilities, whether the High Street should be pedestrianised, making more of St John the Baptist church yard, relocation of bus stops, the impact of the new Barnet College students in September, The Bull Theatre becoming an Arts ‘hub’ for Chipping Barnet and much more. Lists of agreed actions were produced which will need to be followed up over the summer and a draft ‘Vision’ is currently being produced. The programme has clearly slipped but we will keep you posted as to progress. Any ideas for ways of improving the health and appearance of our High Street should be sent to:
