FINAL CHANCE TO PROTECT OUR GREEN BELT
How to donate to the Green Belt Campaign
|
The HWA is working in partnership with the Planning Sub-Committee, in leading the community’s response to the Council’s draft Local Plan consultation. It is the Local Plan which removes the Duchy of Lancaster owned fields (off Crescent West) from the Green Belt to build 160+ new homes. It could be closer to 500 homes based on current dwellings/hectare and the Council could allow up to 7 floors high.
This will affect everyone living, visiting and working in Hadley Wood and, at a minimum, will exacerbate traffic congestion, worsen air pollution, increase the risk of flooding and increase the pressure on our local infrastructure eg school places.
The draft Local Plan consultation period runs from 28 March 2024 - 20 May 2024 and this is the final opportunity for our community to protect our local Green Belt by stopping its release.
What can you do?
This is our final chance to ensure our community's environmental heritage is safeguarded for future generations, so please get involved.

Conserve & Protect our Green Belt
Please look at this video to see why we need to conserve and protect the Green Belt of Hadley Wood |
The Hadley Wood Association exists to make Hadley Wood a better place in which to live and work; to ensure that changes enhance the area, to encourage sound planning and to improve public transport and safety.
As a social hub the Association is at the heart of Hadley Wood, staging or facilitating a range of events for the whole community.
We lease 27 acres of open space either side of the railway station, enabling public access and preserving this land for future generations.

The Association community centre is used for a variety of social and sporting events and is available for lettings. It also provides a venue for a pre-school and the Bridge club. The 27 acres of land includes football grounds and seven tennis courts operated by the Hadley Wood Lawn Tennis Club, one of the oldest tennis clubs in North London.
